The stock market has done way better than you think!

Over the last 40 years, the S&P 500 has returned a compound 9.5%.

That means if you invested $10,000 into the US stock market 40 years ago, you would have about $377,000 right now. That’s without adding any more money! I think that’s pretty fantastic!

But wait…

That 9.5% doesn’t take dividends into account. By the way, when you see the US stock markets’ returns quoted on the news, it doesn’t take dividends into account either. But how much of a difference could that really make?

If you invested your $10,000 40 years ago into the US stock market and reinvested your dividends, you would have earned a compound 12% return.

Don’t think that sounds that much different?

That 12% compound return would mean your $10,000 would have turned into $952,000!
